When students join the institutions of higher learning, their aim isto excel in all the various subjects. The success is consideredsignificant as it enables them to avoid poverty, shape their minds,and secure better employment opportunities in different competitivefields. Students need to understand that the excellence is notobtained automatically, but rather, one works towards achieving thesuccess. It is accurate to argue that learners, educators, and theteaching institutions have distinct needs and abilities. However, itis believed that if the students are focused on achieving the goalsthey set, they are likely to achieve better academic performance thanthose who fail to develop personal objectives (Morisano et al.,2010). The paper seeks to discuss the personal and educational goalof a student the writing process, ways of achieving academicsuccess, and the available resources.

Most of the learning institutions emphasize that the first step alearner should take towards academic achievement is developing andsetting the objectives. My educational goal is to obtain a GPA of3.80 in the Foundations for University Success Course whereasregarding my career I aim to work in an executive position for awell-established firm. Establishing personal goals can lead togreater educational and career success as it provides one withclarity on the ultimate accomplishment. Setting objectives is alsoessential since it acts as a source of motivation, particularly whenchallenges arise and you feel like giving up. A person also gets tobe accountable for their action, which enables the student to avoidwasting time on things that could be irrelevant to their academicsuccess. According to Morisano et al. (2010), personal objectiveshave enabled students to realize their highest potential since theystretch beyond their comfort zones with the aim of reaching newheights. Therefore, setting goals enables learners to discover newopportunities and personal potential that allows them to succeed inlife.

One of the topics discussed in the Foundations for University Successcourse involves the writing process. It highlights the necessarysteps that a student should follow when they engage in the procedurethat includes pre-writing, drafting, reviewing and editing. Thewriting process can help in the advancement of my education andcareer by allowing me to prepare well-written documents that delivera particular message to the target audience (Huskin, 2016). Writtencommunication is critical since it involves putting one’s thoughtsinto words. Hence, by observing the required steps in writing shallmake me a good communicator. My education and career shall alsoprogress since applying the various stages also enables me to developarguments of different nature such as persuasive, authoritative, andanalytical. Understanding the kind of environment and the form ofaudience dictates the manner in which information should bepresented. Therefore, the writing process allows the writer toobserve such essential elements. The writing process also equips onewith sufficient comprehension skills that can convince my instructorand my future employers of my strong foundation in the courseconcepts. Finally, the writing process contributes to my professionaladvancement since when I apply the skills in work presentations andreports it can enhance my performance and lead to a promotion to asenior executive position that I am aiming at serving.

My personal evaluation using the Ethical Lens Inventory providedsignificant information that I can apply in making better decisions.The tool enabled me to understand the core values that influence mychoices are honesty and sensibility. The two principles enhance mydecision-making by always encouraging me to support the truth. As astudent, I am likely to encounter various situations that can make medeceitful. For example, the tutor may give us an assignment where weare required to work alone. Instead of following the instructions, Idecide to seek assistance from a friend and present the results as mypersonal paper. The findings of the ethical lens inventory can guideme to avoid being crafty by analyzing the situations. A sensibleindividual thoroughly examines a situation and identifies the impactof one’s actions. Therefore, the tool shall help me to make aninformed decision of not presenting the assignment that the frienddid because if the instructor found out, I would have to face theconsequences. Besides, since I embrace honesty, it means I need to betruthful in all my endeavors which involve following the lecturer’sinstructions and submitting my original work (Huskin, 2016). Theethical lens inventory suggests that since I value honesty andsensibility, I may assume that everyone is trustworthy. Theassumption can be a weakness that can affect my educational andcareer success because, in some circumstances, people may decide tobe crafty. In the professional world, competition is quite high, andsince I am aiming at acquiring an executive position, othercompetitors may be dishonest in their work practices or bribe you todo them a favor that could cost your ability to excel. Therefore, thepersonal evaluation helps me to understand such weaknesses and ensureto understand the real goals of other people before becoming involvedin their affairs.

The unit for Foundations for University Success also introduced me tomy learning style, which is an auditory learner. It involves payingundivided attention to the tutor to understand the various concepts.Therefore, one of the steps a person can take to improve theircritical thinking skills is asking fundamental questions. Seekingexplanations or clarifications simplifies a concept that enhancesunderstanding. Another step involves gathering information fromextensive sources then applying it to the situation (Huskin, 2016).Where arguments arise, critical thinking allows the learner toprovide supporting evidence and present an original thought. It makesthe student advance in their academics since they evaluate theirwork, which contributes to better performance (Kraft, Schmiesing &ampPhillips, 2016). The adequate information allows a student to makethe most appropriate decision. The last step is exploring otherpoints of view that could be relevant to the matter. A student shallenhance their academic position because they get to learn more aboutthe subject and reflect on their findings.

Academic resources are essential elements in the achievement of boththe educational and career goals that I have set. The universityresources that I shall apply to ensure academic success are theCenter for Writing Excellence and other materials available online. Ibelieve the platform shall enable me to enhance my skills as a writersince it contains essential tools such as grammar correction and theplagiarism checker. The outside sources that I may work with includeacademic journals from JSTOR that provide updated information on thefield of my study. According to Newton (2016) poor performance amongstudents arose from poor writing skills, even though they confidentlyunderstood concepts such as plagiarism. Therefore, applying both theuniversity and online resources shall help me to excel in my studiesby embracing the required skills and developing a positive attitude.The primary challenge of working with outside sources is that theinformation might not be freely available such as the universityresources and the limited access to information if you one is locatedin a different geographical region.

In conclusion, the Foundation for University Success Course issignificant in promoting my academic success. The unit has taught methe need to maintain academic standards by applying information fromdiverse sources in my papers. It has also enlightened me on the needto cite my sources of information accurately and avoiding plagiarism.Therefore, by embracing the writing process and my auditory learningstyle, I believe I will achieve my GPA of 3.80 and work in anexecutive position in future.

Thepurpose of the research is to inform the healthcare workers,patients, and members of the community about the benefits of handhygiene in ensuring good health. The research also aims at persuadingpeople in the healthcare environment to always ensure good handhygiene so as to hinder the spread of germs. The audience shouldunderstand that practicing hand hygiene involves a simple andeffective method of preventing infections (Kapil, Bhavsar &ampMadan, 2015).The key idea of the research presentation is to ensurehigh-quality healthcare through hand hygiene. Health staff andpatients experience positive healthcare outcomes if they clean theirhands appropriately.

B.Audience

Thetargeted audience for the research is healthcare workers who handlepatients directly or example, physicians, dentists, gynecologists,nurses, and surgical staff. The desired audience members work inAmerican public health institutions because of the high patientpopulation. The research findings also aim at benefiting othermembers of the society for example, students, restaurant workers,family members, and food processors. The broader audience is desiredbecause hand hygiene should be practiced by all people (Smiddy,O`Connell &amp Creedon, 2015). Handhygiene improves the recovery of the patients. People who areundergoing treatment should practice good hygiene so as to improvetheir recovery process. Patients should put more effort on hygiene,especially when handling food. Hands should be properly washed whenpreparing food and before eating. Good hand hygiene prevents theconsumption of germ causing bacteria when eating or drinking. Anyfood (fruits, vegetables, and meat) should be properly washed beforeconsumption or before food preparation. Patients are advised to usethe plain soap when cleaning their hands before meals. The plain soapcontains detergents that have cleaning action (Kapil, Bhavsar &ampMadan, 2015).

Seeking consultation, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery isan expensive process especially for patients who seek services inprivate health institutions. Most health conditions are caused by germs and infections.Hand hygiene protects a person from accessing the germs andinfections. People who practice hand hygiene have minimal chances ofgetting sick. This reduces their demand for healthcare services, andhence they use their finances for other important economic activitieslike educating their children. People, who have an interest inminimizing costs, should practice good hand hygiene that reduces theprobability of falling sick.

Handhygiene safeguards the healthcare staff from getting infections fromthe patients. The hospital environment also has a lot of germs thatmay negatively affect the health of the health care staff. Apart from goodhand washing practice, health workers are supposed to wear gloveswhen providing care to patients and when handling hospital equipmentand devices like surgical blades (Chassin, Mayer &amp Nether, 2015).The working environment of the health staff is hazardous. Nurses are required to adhere to the fivehand hygiene guideline because it indicates health careprofessionalism that strives to improve healthcare outcomes (Smiddy,O`Connell &amp Creedon, 2015).
