WindowsTips and Tricks
Technologicallyspeaking, the field of Information Technology boasts of significantadvances into the 21st century with the introduction of computers andreliable software such as Windows that constitutes Windows Office,Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and MicrosoftOutlook. Earnestly, technology is meant to simplify work and with theinclusion of Windows software, a Computer Science (CS) student canapply one of several keyboard tips and tricks to perform a variety ofcommands and actions (Halsey,2015).Forget about the technical areas such as programming and data coding, here are simple tips and tricks that will keep you on your computerwithout any signs of boredom or exhaustion.
Itis time to create a word document and the approach by many users isto use the mouse (right or left clicking) to create folders, savefiles, cycle through various elements like toolbar, and togglefull-screen mode just to mention a few. However, a CS student’sapproach is rather simple, with every strike on the keyboardcommanding the computer to perform any of the tasks mentioned above. For example, Halsey(2015) argued that onceyou start a new word document, hit the F12 key and the option forsaving your work appears to create a folder for that work, pressCtrl + Up Arrow + N and a new folder appear. Furthermore, Ctrl + Aselects all text, Ctrl + C help copy a text and to paste that, strikeCtrl + P finally, save it by hitting the Ctrl + S buttons. Simplyput, a CS can utilize the keyboard tricks to execute most actionsduring the creation of a word document they don’t rely solely onthe buttons for typing as indicated above.
Often, the need to create a presentation for particular audience arises anda majority may shy off from the task as a laborious and highlydemanding one, but not a CS student ready to impress in say, a classassignment presentation. Under such circumstances, Halsey(2015) asserted that thestudent exploits the Microsoft PowerPoint Office to create livelypresentations with excellent backgrounds and slide animations. And ittakes little to no efforts! And it is straightforward, go to thestart screen and launch PowerPoint, select “Blank Presentation”to start creating new slides, and use the Ribbon (Home, Insert,Design, Transitions, Animations, and Transitions) to model the slidesin a way most suitable for active presentations.
Manya time, it is essential to store, organize, and analyze informationsuch as financial projections of a business plan a CS student islikely to utilize an Excel spreadsheet program to perform the taskand in a way that the system can automatically calculate sums, averages, and products among others (Halsey,2015).When you start a screen and launch Excel, a blank spreadsheet appearswith a Ribbon that allows us to organize the data as required we caninsert rows, columns, and formulas and even obtain a pictorialrepresentation of the data as pie charts and graphs.
Fromthe discussions above, it is evident that we don`t confine the use ofWindows to the technical areas like programming and data coding itis possible to utilize it in creating word documents while using thekeyboard wizardry, modeling animated and lively slides for audienceattention, and organizing sets of data for future references. Allthese processes are possible when one comprehends the tips andtricks’ expectations of a computer student otherwise, they are notas complicated to challenge Windows users who are ready to exploit.
